A group party is a party that can contain other parties as members.

> ℹ️ A group party is not required to have any members.

# Group Membership Types

Parties who belong to a group can be either a *member* or an *active member* of the group. If a group has a designated active member, any messages for the group are sent to that member. If there is no active member, the message is sent to all members of the group.

# Create a Group Party

1. In the Parties module click **Add New Party** to create a new party.
2. Select *Group* from the **Type** options.
3. Complete the rest of the Details tab.
4. Click **Save** to save the new party.

# Add Members to a Group Party

1. In the Parties module select the group to which you want to add a member.
2. In the **Relation** tab, click **Insert.**
3. In the **Inserting Relation** dialog, choose the type of member that you want to add. This can be *MEMBER* or, if this option is available, *ACTIVE MEMBER*. There is no restriction on the number of members that you can add.
4. Choose the party that you want to add to the group.  
Click **Save** to save your changes.
