Add sub-role privileges to a role in the **Roles > Sub-Role Privileges** tab.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If a user has the Parties module open when a change is made to their sub-role privileges, they will not see the change until they close and re-open the Parties module.

**Step 1**

In the Roles module, select the role to which you want to add the privilege. That is, the role that will gain editing privileges over another role.

**Step 2**

Open the Sub-Role Privileges tab and click **Insert** to add a new privilege.

**Step 3**

In the dialog box, choose the **Sub-Role** for which you want to grant the privilege and the **Privilege** that you want to grant.

For example, to allow users logged in with the selected role to change the password of a field operator, set the *Reset password* privilege for *FIELD OPERATOR*.

**Step 4**

Click **Save** to save your changes.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Most sub-role privileges have no effect unless the corresponding privilege check is turned on for the target role. You can still set the sub-role privilege, but it will be ignored. See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UMNC/pages/1983578186](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UMNC/pages/1983578186) for more details. The exception is the *Grant Authority* sub-role privilege which will always be checked.
