> ℹ️
> ℹ️ This module is usually in the **Site Management** tab of the application

The Groups module is where you can view and manage the details of any objects whose object type is Group, or a sub-type of Group. Use the Groups module to create new groups, add objects to groups, and grant authorities to groups.

# What is a group?

A group is a type of object that can have other objects as group members. They are associated with their group members through a relation type.

# What are groups used for?

Groups are used to collect objects together so that the application can treat them as a single object.

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ For example, granting an authority to a group object automatically grants the same authority to all the objects within the group.

# Group sub-types

Different types of group can be defined as sub-types of the Group type.

## SCADA Groups

SCADA Groups are a group sub-type and can be managed in the Groups module. However, for convenience, they can also be managed in the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2000979179](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2000979179).

> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Party groups and tag groups are not group objects because parties and tags are not objects. Manage party groups in the [Parties module](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UMNC/pages/1979416655) and tag groups in the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2010185811](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2010185811).
