# What are Report Components?

Report components are chunks of content that you can add to a report. Simple components display text, labels and report properties. More complex data-driven components extract data from the application database and display it in the report.

Many reports contain only a few components, others are assemblies of many components. The structure of the report and its components is displayed in the left hand pane of the Report Editor. Use the Report Editor toolbar to select report components, and use the editing tools to arrange report components.
