There are two requirements for rationing to be applied to an order:

- Rationing must be enabled.
- The authorisation to be rationed must have a Delivery/Extraction Share attribute set. This is configured automatically once the relevant objects have been added to the network.

> ℹ️ **Notes**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - For a shared service point, the Delivery Extraction Share applies to all the authorisations together and water is allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
> ℹ️ - If a service point is transferred from one property to another the authorisation for the service point is automatically removed from the old delivery share.

# Enable Rationing

To enable rationing, set the **Rationing Enabled** parameter to *True*. Rationing will now apply to any new orders created that are covered by a ration period.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Orders within a ration period that were created while rationing was disabled will not be rationed even if you later enable rationing.
> ℹ️ - Orders within a ration period that were created while rationing was enabled will still be rationed, even if you later disable rationing. If you no longer need to ration these orders you must cancel the orders and create new orders.

# Enabling or Disabling Order Changes

You can enable or disable the ability of irrigators to change or cancel orders that fall within a ration period by setting the following parameters:

- **Modify rationed for order** - set this to YES to allow irrigators to modify orders.
- **Modify cancel for order** - set this to YES to allow irrigators to cancel orders.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ These rules apply to all orders that overlap with a ration period whether or not they were rationed.

# Configuring Restrictions on Reordering during a Ration Period

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ These features are disabled by default. Contact Rubicon Support if you want to enable the feature or reconfigure the length of the periods.

A grace period can be configured during which Irrigators can reorder after cancelling an order during a ration period.

> ℹ️ This is to allow irrigators to correct mistakes when cancelling orders.

Following that, a restriction period can be configured during which they will not be able to reorder.

A restriction period can also be configured to prevent irrigators from immediately reordering on the same outlet after cancelling an order scheduled for a future rationing period.

> ℹ️ This is to prevent irrigators from blocking future capacity

Irrigators will be alerted of any restrictions and when the restriction periods end.

# Configuring a Standby Water Period

A standby water period is a period during which irrigators can place orders without being constrained by their Delivery/Extraction Share. The orders must start and end within the standby period. This is intended to encourage irrigators to place last-minute orders to use up any surplus water in the system. It only applies within a ration period.

Use the **Standby water period hours** to define the length of the standby period. The period runs from the current time for the specified number of hours.

# Configuring Delivery Share Groups

Delivery Share groups are groups of authorisations that can pool their delivery shares for ordering during ration periods.

To configure shariring, create a group of type *Delivery Share* in the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2001011511](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2001011511) and add the authorisations as group components using the *Usage Component* relation type. See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2000979100](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMNC/pages/2000979100) for more details.
