When DMS checks that a regulator has the capacity to supply an order, one of the attributes it checks is the **Maximum Flow**. Like other attributes, this has a single currently-valid value, but it may have additional values with an *Effective Date* in the future that will become the valid value when that date is reached.

- If the **Maximum-Flow Time Series** feature is *DISABLED* (this is the default), then DMS will use the value of the attribute when the order is placed to check channel capacity. It will not look ahead to see if the value will change in the future when the order runs.
- If the **Maximum-Flow Time Series** feature is *ENABLED* then DMS will look ahead and use the value that the attribute will have when the order runs to check channel capacity.

# How is this configured?

If this feature has been enabled for your system, you can configure the behaviour for specific regulators by setting the **Enable MAX FLOW as Timeseries** attribute for that regulator to *Yes*.

Once this is set, DMS will automatically check for any future values of the attribute as part of capacity checking and will apply the attribute value that will be valid at the time of the flow.

To view the values configured for the Max Flow, view the [attribute history](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CFGNC/pages/2001568023/Viewing+and+Modifying+Attribute+Values#Viewing-the-History-of-an-Attribute-Value).
