This topic explains how to create a trend group in the Trend Groups module. You can also create trend groups in the Planning Schematic. See [Creating and Loading a Trend Group](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PNC/pages/2051867032) for details.

> ℹ️ This type of Trend Group is a group of regulators and outlets that you want to view in the Planning Schematic flow histogram. The Trending module in some Rubicon applications also has a concept called "trend groups" for sets of tag values that you can plot together in the Trending tool. These two types of trend group are not related.

# Create the Trend Group

1. In the Trend Groups module click **Add** to create a new trend group.
2. Enter a name for the group and click **Save** to save your changes.

# Add Components to the Group

1. On the **Components** tab, click **Edit** to manage the group components.
2. Use the Add, Remove and Modify tools to build a set of network objects.
3. (Optional) Specify a sequence number for each object. This will control the order in which the histogram tabs are displayed.
4. Click **Save** to save your changes.

# Specify the Planning Areas or Groups for which the Trend Group can be Used

1. On the **Areas/Groups** tab, click **Insert** to add a relationship with a Planning Area or Group
2. Specify the area or group to add.
3. Click **Save** to save your changes.

This adds an authority for all planners to use the trend group in that planning area or group.
