DMS can be configured to automatically write preset instructions to an outlet to deliver an order (provided the outlet is capable of automatic control). This is done by setting the **Automatic Control** attribute on the outlet.

The Automatic Control attribute specifies how flow changes are sent to regulators and outlets:

| **Value** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Yes | DMS can send presets to the regulators and outlets when an order is lodged or changed, or when a plan is finalised. If a preset cannot be successfully sent, an alarm is raised. |
| No | DMS does not send presets.<br>The planner may enter presets remotely using SCADAConnect Desktop, or the outlets and regulators may be manually operated onsite. |
