A *Plannable* planning group is a group for which you can create a plan. It is analogous to creating an individual planning area *Active*. See [Making a Planning Area Active](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NWNC/pages/2000978569)

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ *Active* planning areas cannot overlap. If you set a group as *Plannable* and it contains planning areas that overlap with other active planning areas, DMS will not allow you to proceed.

1. Log in to DMS as a System Administrator (or with some other role that has authority to change the status of a planning group).
2. In the Planning Groups module select the planning group that you want to set plannable.
3. On the Details tab, click Edit to make the group editable.
4. In the **Plannable** options, select *Active*.
5. Click **Save** to save your changes. DMS will check to make sure that the areas in the group do not overlap with any other active areas.
