Assign an owner to a property who can be contacted about the property and who will be responsible for water accounts.

# How many owners can a property have?

A party can own any number of properties.

The number of owners that a property can have depends on the way that the OWNER role is set up for properties. Some organisations limit the number of owners to one, others allow multiple owners for a property. See [Associating a Role with an Object Type](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/UMNC/pages/1983643708) for more details.

# Assign an owner to a property

1. In the Properties module select the property to which you want to assign an owner. (You can also assign an owner to a property from the Parties module).
2. On the Authority tab, click **Insert**. The Inserting Authority screen opens with the OWNER role selected by default.
3. In the Party field, select the party who owns this property. You can use the **Search** tool to search for the party if necessary.
4. In the Inserting Authority screen, click **Save** to save your changes.
