The temperature of a lithium battery must be kept between -20°C (-4°F) and 60°C (140°F).

- At temperatures above 60°C charging the battery can cause the chemical to become unstable.
- At temperatures below 0°C charging the battery can significantly reduce the lifespan.
- At temperatures below -20°C discharging the battery can significantly reduce the lifespan.

The lithium battery has an integrated battery management system (BMS) which continually monitors the internal temperature of the cells.

All Rubicon battery management systems will prevent charging in the event of an over temperature condition.

The SDB and FerIT both utilise configurable software-dependant charging profiles with temperature feedback for optimised charging and protection of lithium batteries.
Please consult the product specific manuals for more guidance on commissioning these features to suit your application.
