Lithium battery packs are supplied with a number of external and internal protective features to ensure that no damage is caused to Rubicon gates and telemetry equipment as well as prolonging the life of the battery itself.

# Internal Features:

## Over-discharge protection

The lithium battery pack has internal over-discharge/low-voltage protection that will activate to stop irreversible damage caused by over discharging the battery pack.

## Over-charge protection

The lithium battery pack has internal over-charge/high-voltage protection that will activate to stop irreversible damage caused by over charging the battery pack.

## Over-load protection

The battery pack includes internal protection against excessive current and will shut down temporarily to protect the cells within the battery packs. This protection feature will only be activated if there is a fault on the battery side of the external loom fuse.

## Short-circuit protection

The battery pack is capable of detecting direct short circuits and cut off power in the event of a direct short on the battery side of the external loom or in case the fuse fails thus preventing failures which may have caused cell damage, chemical leaks or fires

## Over-temperature protection

Lithium battery management systems are designed to protect against worst case over temperature situations. The internal temperature sensors will disconnect the battery from the system to prevent catastrophic failures

## Robust, water resistant casings

Rubicon battery packs are designed and tested to withstand the harsh environmental conditions they will be subject to.

## Handles for ergonomic transport 

Rubicon Battery packs are equipped with sturdy handles to protect the pack and user from strain, the handle allows for easy insert into Rubicon Pedestals.

## Looms with protective fuses.

Rubicon battery pack looms includes an inline fuses in the main looms which are application specific and rated to protect standard products if there is a short circuit on the load side of the fuse.

> ℹ️ **Caution - **Always replace a blown fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage and voltage rating.
