Transfer data from a source tag in one database to a destination tag in another Rubicon application database (or in the same database). The source data can be transferred as-is or as summary data.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Transfers within the same database are typically used to aggregate existing data in various ways.

When you have configured a data transfer, the transfer continues to run at specified intervals until you delete the task. You can also run the transfer task manually at any time. See <u>[Running a Single Data Transfer](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DMNC/pages/2053439902)</u> for details.

**To configure a data transfer task:**

**Step 1**

In the Data Transfers module click **Add** to create a new transfer task.

**Step 2**

Enter the following details:

| Property | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Datasource | Select a datasource from the drop-down list. Choosing *Local* will transfer data from within the current database.<br>Datasource settings are stored in an *External datasource connection details* parameter. See <u>[Data Transfer Parameters](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CFGNC/pages/2053439947)</u> for more details. |
| Source Tag | Select the tag from which the data will be read. Click Find Tag to use the Tag Chooser tool. |
| Period | Specify how often the source tag data will be transferred. If the destination tag contains summary data, this is the period over which data is summarized.<br>**Example:**<br>If you set the period to one hour, the data will be transferred every hour and will summarize an hour of source data (for summary values) |
| Local Tag | Select the tag to which the data will be copied. Click **Find Tag** to use the Tag Chooser tool. |
| New value | Specify how the source data will be written to the destination tag. You can choose to transfer the data as-is or apply various summary functions.<br>See <u>[Data Transfer Options](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DMNC/pages/2053800119)</u> for more details. |

**Step 3**

Click **Save** to save your changes. The transfer task will run at the start of the next period as specified in your configuration settings and will continue to run at that interval indefinitely.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ To stop a data transfer task, select the task in the Data Transfers module and click **Delete**.
