> Macro (toc)

Create an accumulator to store the sum of any positive changes to the source tag. See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2048720988](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2048720988) for more information about creating tags.

# Pre-requisites

Before you create the accumulator, create the following tags:

| **Tag** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Count tag | Holds the accumulated value. Create this tag in the SYSTEM table for the data source. |
| Increment tag | Holds the calculated incremental changes to the source tag value. Create this tag in the SYSTEM table for the data source. |

The *Source *tag and the *Reset* tag are located on the site RTU and are mirrored in the host database.

# Create an accumulator for a source tag:

1. Open the **Tag Details** form for the source tag. You can do this in the [Site Tags module](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2010185824), or in the [Data Sources module](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DCNC/pages/2010185772).
2. On the **Accumulator tab**, enter the details of the *Count Tag *and the *Increment Tag* that you created above. If the RTU source tag can be reset, you can also enter the details of the *Reset Tag*. Use the Search tool to find the tags if necessary.NoteYou may need to click the Edit button at the bottom of the form to enable the tag fields.
3. Click **Save** to save your changes.
