Unmetered ordering calculations are affected by several system parameters.

# Configuring the Water Usage Calculation

Unmetered outlets can use either of two different methods of calculating water usage for an order:

- Area irrigated and irrigation depth. This option uses cultures to store the depth information.
- Flow rate and flow duration.

The type of calculation used is set in the *Unmetered order volume basis* system parameter which can be set to a value of AREA or FLOW. Set this to AREA to use cultures for unmetered ordering.

# Setting the depth unit

You can set the units for the depth measurements given for cultures. Set the depth unit in the *Crop depth unit* system parameter.

# Applying a conversion factor

If you are calculating unmetered water usage using areas and depths, the water volume supplied is calculated as:

*Volume = Area x Depth*

Where depth is set for each culture used.

You can also apply a further conversion factor by setting the *Unmetered area to volume conversion* factor system parameter. This means that the volume is calculated as:

*Volume = Area x Depth x Conversion factor*
