Create a crop type to make it available for ordering and to specify its properties for demand forecasting.

**Step 1**

In the Crop Types module click **Add** to create a new crop type.

**Step 2**

Enter the following details:

| **Field** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Description | Descriptive name for the crop type. |
| Factor | Used by the Demand Prediction module<br>An evaporation constant that is used as a multiplier for the base crop transpiration rate. Enter a value greater than one if the transpiration for this crop type is faster than the base rate.<br>If you are not using Demand Prediction, you can enter any value here but you cannot leave the field blank. |

**Step 3** 

Click **Save** to save your changes.

> ℹ️ If your customers are ordering with Rubicon's IVR system, you must also create new IVR phrases for placing orders for this crop type. Contact Rubicon Support for more details.
