The System Plan Smoothing module is where you can set system wide smoothing intervals for averaging flows in histograms.

# What is a Smoothing Interval?

A smoothing interval is a time period used for averaging flows in the flow histogram. For example, set a smoothing interval of 30 minutes to display the flow averaged over 30 minute intervals.

In flow histograms, you can overlay the averaged flows on the flow histogram. Click **View > Smooth Flows** in the Histogram main menu to choose a smoothing option.

# Adjusting Flow Smoothing in the Histogram

In flow histograms, you can overlay the averaged flows on the flow histogram. Click **View > Smooth Flows** in the Histogram main menu to choose the smoothing option. You can configure the intervals available for smoothing/

To configure the flow smoothing periods:

1. To create default smoothing intervals for the system, use the System Plan Smoothing module. To create custom intervals for individual plans, open the Smoothing Parameters tab for the plan.
2. Select an option and click **Delete** to remove it, or click **Insert** to add new intervals. The time specified for an interval gives the period over which the flow is smoothed.

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Set an interval of 0 hrs and 30 minutes to show the flow smoothed over half hour intervals.
