Add a special charge to an account to apply a charge type to a selected account only, or to modify the settings for a charge type for the selected account. Special charges will override the standard charge type settings when account items are calculated for the account.

Find accounts with special charges applied by using the** Search** tool in the Accounts module.

# Add a special charge to an account

**Step 1**

In the Accounts module select the account to which you want to add a special charge.

**Step 2**

On the Special Charges tab, click **Insert** to add a special charge.

**Step 3**

Enter the following details:

| **Property** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Date Effective | Date from which this charge is valid. |
| Charge | Choose which charge to use for this special charge |
| Quantity | If you are using a *variable* charge type, enter the quantity for this charge<br>See <u>[Charge Types](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BNC/pages/1990197985)</u> for more details. |
| Amount | Enter a charge amount for this account. |

**Step 4**

Click **Save** to save your changes.
