# Permanently Disabling Alarm Actions

Disable alarm actions to bypass one or more of the notification actions for an alarm. Any repeats or delays will also be disabled and the sequence will continue with the next enabled action.

1. In the Alarm Actions module > Actions tab, select the action that you want to disable.
2. Click **Modify** to open the Updating Actions screen.
3. Clear the **Enabled** checkbox to disable the alarm action.
4. Click **Save** to save your changes.

# Temporarily Disabling Alarm Actions by Shelving

Shelving an alarm disables alarm actions for that alarm for a specified shelving period.

> ℹ️ You might shelve alarms if you know that the site is undergoing maintenance and you don't want to be bothered by excessive alarm notifications.
