Create an alarm action to send a notification that an alarm has been triggered.

**Step 1**

In the Alarm Actions module select the alarm group for which you want to create an alarm action.

**Step 2**

On the Actions tab click** Insert** to create a alarm action.

**Step 3**

Enter a **Sequence number** to control the order in which alarm actions are performed. See <u>[Controlling the Sequence of Alarm Actions](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ANC/pages/1991278593)</u> for more information.

**Step 4**

Choose the **Period** for which the alarm action is applicable.

> ℹ️ This refers to the period during which the alarm was first *triggered*, not the period in which the alarm action itself occurs. Alarm periods are defined in the [Alarm Periods](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ANC/pages/1990361411) module.

**Step 5**

Choose the Recipient. Use the Search tool to open the Party chooser.

> ℹ️ The recipient can be an individual, or a group. If you choose a group, the notification is sent to the Active Member of the group.

**Step 6**

Choose the **Action Type**. This is the way that the alarm notification will be delivered. See <u>[Action Types](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ANC/pages/1991147536)</u> for more details.

**Step 7**

Select the **Enabled** checkbox to enable the alarm action.

**Step 8**

Set the **Retry Count**. If you want to perform the action once only, enter zero in the **Retry Count** field. If you want to have a delay between retries, or before the next alarm action, set the **Retry Interval** in seconds.

**Step 9**

Enter an optional **Comment** about the alarm.

**Step 10**

Click **Save** to save your changes.
