Create an alarm group to generate an alarm from a set of related tags.

**Step 1**

In the Alarm Actions module click **Add** to create a new alarm group.

**Step 2**

Enter a description for the alarm group.

**Step 3**

Choose the alarm object. This is the system, group or object with which the tags in the alarm group are associated.

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Use this option to split up responsibility for responding to alarms. For example, direct alarms for different planning groups to the appropriate planners.

- If you chose Group or Object, click **Search** to open the search tool for the group or object. Use the search tool to select the group or object that you want to use.

**Step 4**

Choose a filter method to select the tags from one of the following options:

| **Filter type** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| All tags | Select all tags for the object |
| Tag name | Select tags with the specified name |
| Alarm priority | Select tags with a specified alarm priority |
| Attribute type | Select tags that have the specified attribute type. |

**Step 5**

Unless you chose to use All tags, select the tag name, alarm priority or attribute type for this alarm group using the search tool or drop-down options.

**Step 6**

Choose the tag type, either analog or digital or both.

**Step 7**

Choose the alarm state trigger. This will depend on the tag type because different tag types support different alarm state triggers. see [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ANC/pages/1990459661/Configuring+Alarms+on+Tags#Alarm-State-Triggers](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ANC/pages/1990459661/Configuring+Alarms+on+Tags#Alarm-State-Triggers) for a table of trigger types

**Step 8**

Click **Save** to save your changes.
